How it works

  1. Add a photo. Drop, paste or choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Brush over it. Paint over everything you want removed. Use a larger brush for big objects.
  3. Remove and download. Press Remove, repeat if needed, then download a full-resolution PNG.

What you can erase

Tourists and photobombers in travel shots, power lines, trash cans, date stamps, stray hairs, skin blemishes, small logos and text overlays. The eraser works best on objects surrounded by natural background such as sky, grass, walls, water or sand.

For large objects in front of complex scenes, erase in a few smaller passes: each pass gives the model more real background to learn from.

Two models: fast and high quality

Fast mode uses MI-GAN, a 28 MB model that finishes in well under a second on most devices. High quality mode uses LaMa (93 MB), which is better at repeating textures and filling larger holes. You can switch per image; each model is downloaded only the first time you use it.

Private by design

Most online object removers upload your photo to a server. Inpainting.app runs the AI model locally with WebGPU or WebAssembly instead. The tool works on a separate, ad-free page that has no analytics or third-party scripts, so nothing can read your image.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser and runs on your own device. Your photos and the results never leave your computer or phone, and nothing is stored on our servers.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on the number of photos. The site is supported by ads on the article pages, never inside the editor.

Why is there a download the first time?

The AI model has to be on your device to work offline and privately. It is downloaded once, only after you agree, and kept in your browser cache, so later visits start instantly without downloading it again.

How fast is it?

With WebGPU (recent Chrome, Edge and Safari) most photos finish in about a second. Without WebGPU the tool falls back to your CPU, which works everywhere but can take several seconds or more for large images.

Does it keep the full resolution?

Yes. Only the painted area is replaced; every other pixel of your original stays untouched and the download keeps the original size.
